Originally from the Netherlands, Monica moved to Canada at the age of 21. Interested in art in cross-cultural perspectives she took a degree in Cultural Anthropology and French Literature from the University of Manitoba. Hence she thought of a thousand excellent reasons to travel the world, and did so on a shoestring, as often as possible. She pursued a career in social work in Toronto, studied at the Ontario College of Art in her free time, and after some time became the proud mother of two children. Her worldwide meanderings, the creative task of motherhood, and a commitment to follow her heart inspired Monica to become a full-time artist. Her artistic obsession is with ceramics.
